A world on fire

"A World on Fire"

The earth once whispered in tender tones,

Through rustling leaves and ancient stones.

Her rivers danced, her skies sang clear,

A symphony of life we held so dear.

But now she trembles, her voice a cry,

Beneath a sun that scorches the sky.

Her glaciers weep, her forests fade,

The cost of the choices mankind has made.

The oceans rise, their anger vast,

Swallowing shores with a vengeance cast.

Storms now rage where calm once reigned,

The balance shattered, the harmony strained.

Fields once golden now lie bare,

The crops won't grow in poisoned air.

Creatures wander, their homes erased,

By human hands, their fate misplaced.

The cities sprawl, the factories hum,

The smoke of progress chokes the sun.

Yet we press forward, blind to see,

The cost of our relentless greed.

But in the shadow of despair,

Hope still lingers, if we dare.

To plant a seed, to mend the land,

To heal the wounds by our own hand.

The power lies within our grasp,

To make a change, to break the clasp.

To tread more lightly, to rethink our ways,

To give the earth her healing days.

Let us rise before it’s too late,

To rewrite this tale, to change our fate.

For the earth still whispers, though her voice is thin,

Begging us to listen, to begin again.
