The dream I will dream | Wabwire Ronald | 2023-04-26 06:46:46
As I go to bed today
After
the errands with my bossy boss
After
surviving a crush by a speeding police car
Yes,
after the crossing of roads and ideas
And
after a quarrel with the shopkeeper-
Over
the exorbitant prices of commodities.
I
want to rest!
I
will sleep. Oh!
I
will rest and hope to have a dream.
I
hope to dream a dream;
A
dream that our education system is producing providers.
Not
seekers
A
dream that when we agree among ourselves here,
Here
on this soil, even heaven agrees.
That
we don’t change because of individualism.
A
dream that our constitution will never again cry over defilement
That
when prices of goods and services skyrocket
Our
leaders choose reasons over excuses
I
want to dream a dream.
A
dream that when we must elect an important person on this land
We
don’t go to Kyankwanzi
That
we freely came out of our houses
That
we went and voted
We
were not thrown coins at like dogs
I
want to dream that when people die on this land
They
too can die naturally
That
dream that our hope is no longer the next general election
That
it is now the next generation
The
dream of real hope
Not
that of this pretense
I
want a Pharoah dream
Not
Ahab’s
A
dream of solution
Not
these dreams of destruction.
So,
help me God!
