Sex Everywhere

My name is sex

I appear everywhere 

But l wonder why l confuse the world

A mere mention of me

Creates unnecessary alertness and expectations

So many have fallen prey to misfortunes

Why abuse my existence yet I am important?

I provide categorisation 

To check related challenges

Once you are born

I'm present to say who should be called what 

In the mosque

I help in the seating of the congregation

To avoid temptations in the Holy house

In the hospital

I determine who sleeps in which ward 

In boarding schools

I dictate who resides in which dormitory

In prison

I spell out which inmate puts up where 

But when I appear in a lodge

In a disco hall

And even parties 

It's a different story to tell

Why allow yourself to be misled

By the way l'm misinterpreted

People have lost jobs 

For misunderstanding and hence abusing me

Some have missed opportunities

Due to denying or offering me 

Others have lost lives, friendship, love

In my presence

Be careful for l know no boundaries

I'm not limited to any race, .....

All you need is understand me well 

Handle me accordingly
