Childhood Memories | Masela Samuel | 2022-12-17 10:23:25
Where did they go?
Those moments were just joy
The little friends
That provided constant company
The night downpours
That made sleep tastier, so sweet
The bicycle tyre and rim rides
That made us traverse villages
The imaginary drives
In those wire cars with slipper tyres
With car sounds produced by speech organs
The home and away banana fiber ball matches
That strengthened bonds among different village players
The race competitions
That would only be terminated by the ageing of days
The rope skipping
The banana stem drives
On slippery ant hills
The moon-lit night gatherings
Fertile grounds for "byakooko" - free activity
Assuming roles as father, mother, ....
Playing hide and seek
Bursting into shouts of delightedness
The windy nature of approaching storms
That would fly ladies' skirts
Displaying their under sides
Where did all these go?
Where?
If time could only be rewound!
